Skunked Again

0 and 5 last night.

What can you say?  BREAKING BAD was a juggernaut.  A great show with a great final season.

(But Peter Dinklage was robbed).

Personally I am now 0 and 6 in the Emmy derby.

This was the 66th annual Emmy Awards.  66 years, and no science fiction or fantasy series has ever been honored.  Many have been nominated, yes.  None have ever won.

Just sayin'

Weird Al

Did you by any chance write a winds of winter paragraph during the emmy's using that typewriter? My guess is that if you you did this (breaking your self imposed rule of no writing on the road) - that it would be a chapter on a singer getting brutally killed; his name somewhere along the lines of Alan of the Wyrd Yankers.

yeah, the Emmys are SO annoying! Sure, everyone would like to win, but it is known that it's a huge stupid farce. I mean, I'm pretty sure Mathew McConaughey was pissed and he probably was justified, True Detective was great. The people LOVE Game of Thrones, so clearly the Academy just does what it wants and doesn't listen. Peter SO deserved that award. please. As Damien Lewis (Homeland) said at his acceptance speech of 2012, "I really don't believe in judging art" uh YEAH! ART is NOT a Sport and should NOT be competitive between artists. These stupid award shows should be more of a celebration. I LOVED Jim Parsons speech about how there's no accounting for taste and that he was there by "good fortune".

I guess the Emmys are similar to The Game of Thrones, it's a game and a crap shoot to the whims of some people, just "some people" who consider themselves good judges.

As for Sci Fi, didn't the X-Files win a bunch of Emmys?

Also, quite frankly, Breaking Bad winning everything bothered me but that Weird Al Yankovich number demanding you write faster, did not make me happy, at all.

BTW, you & Parris looked GREAT! What was Parris wearing anyway? LOL

Grrr. Your day will come!

This can only mean that in a ceremony not so far in the future, GoT is BOUND to be the first sci-fi/fantasy show to be honored, and win an Emmy. So cheer up!

And that Weird Al routine where they gave you the typewriter was HILARIOUS. (FYI that was total sarcasm, I didn't find it funny at all. Weird Al hasn't been funny since UHF.)

Even though you guys were shut out this year, I predict Lena Headey will win one next year for Cersei's slow collapse into insanity. Just reread A Feast for Crows and A Dance With Dragons and there are so many key moments I'm really looking forward to (Winterfell especially).

All I can think is that the Emmys are out of touch with what viewers are actually watching (and by watching I mean raving, obsessing, dreaming about). Peter Dinklage was indeed robbed.

Next year
Don't worry, next year should be GoTs turn. True Detective won't take it next year without this year's cast, Breaking Bad is done, and I'll be damned if the Leftovers takes it.

Re: Next year
Next year will be MAD MEN's valedictory, as this year's was BREAKING BAD's.

Well, from my view anyway, good TV rarely wins. To be honest I'm not much of a fan of video entertainment over the past 25 years or so.I find it odd that fantasy/sci-fi be given a wide berth. As anyone that has any first hand experience of the subject matter in "Breaking Bad" would see that they just heaped praise on a "fantasy" title. BTW George, if I read the last book any slower I'll be down to one word a day! =D (teasing)
Love your work. GoT best show on the tube, er flatscreen.
Hook us up!

Although I loved Breaking Bad, was very sad GoT didn't get more recognition. Pete for sure deserved an Emmy. So, better luck next year. Best part of broadcast, GRRM receiving and typing on vintage typewriter... Too Cute!!!!!!

Did you get to keep the type writer?

Because that thing is a BEAUTY! Auction it off for the wolves if you don't want to keep it. It's lovely!!

On the gripping hand...
When was the last time you got serenaded by Weird Al Yankovic?

Mr.Dinklage's trial scene would have won the scene of the year by a supporting actor easily I think....But I think it's always going to be tough for the individual actors to win if only because none of them get quite enough screen-time. That and Breaking Bad was just an absolute juggernaut of a show, and has been for the last 3 or 4 years. Not in comparison to anything, but the show was able to move it's central plot swiftly and somehow not make you think you missed anything. And while the show ended pretty much how you thought it would, it was still spellbinding.

With Mad Men going away next year, I would assume GoT will have an uphill battle again, but on the bright side out of my top 3 shows yours will be the only one left come 2016. Big Consolation I know

I totally agree, another year that I'm disappointed with the Emmy Awards.
Peter Dinklage was robbed, True Detective too.
I mean, Breaking Bad is good, but not that good.
Modern family??? again??

Time to do the Extreme!
I think Game Of Thrones should get off HBO and go cable or at least get added to cable tv. Not everyone can afford HBO, but most the world watches cable and we were beat by Breaking Bad that shows on AMC cable with only 20 episodes a season VS our 40, do the math, what is wrong with this picture? And they are also out of ABQ New Mexico and George R.R. Martin is from Santa Fe New Mexico. If Game Of Thrones stands a chance to win next season we are going to have to do the extreme to hit a bigger audience in TV Land.I'm the perfect example of a poverty person that does not even have tv, and the only way i get to even see Game Of Thrones is through my next door neighbor. The Westeros will stand behind you. What can we do to help?
