Skunked Again

0 and 5 last night.

What can you say?  BREAKING BAD was a juggernaut.  A great show with a great final season.

(But Peter Dinklage was robbed).

Personally I am now 0 and 6 in the Emmy derby.

This was the 66th annual Emmy Awards.  66 years, and no science fiction or fantasy series has ever been honored.  Many have been nominated, yes.  None have ever won.

Just sayin'

Bummed
At the very least, Peter Dinklage should have won an Emmy. Game of Thrones got robbed...

The only bright side is that we still have next year. Something Breaking Bad does not have.

That was such a tough one. I have no doubt that Peter Dinklage will be rightfully honored for his work in the end. That said, Aaron Paul's work was worthy of recognition by the Emmy voters as well. I suspect they will award Peter next year. They damned well should!

Most people that like the series have seen every single one of GoT episodes, and a good deal of those people have read all books.

Of all those people, I think less than 5% watched the Emmy. I guess they want to plead another audience... it's sad, but it's pop culture. I love the show and it's number one for me.

I don't know...
True Detective didn't win either so you're in good company. Breaking Bad ended in a awesome way and deserved it, but if the academy is saying that Modern Family is a better comedy then Louie, maybe their opinion isn't that validating!

GRRM cosplay - continued
Hi George,

I agree completely that Peter Dinklage was robbed. He has been sensational and worthy of all honorable mention he can possibly get. It is a real shame that Game of Thrones did not win this year. We'll just have to hope they'll come to their senses next year...

I tried to share a link with you earlier, but livejournal automatically marked it as spam because it was a webpage. As I mentioned to you before I wanted to make a female cosplay of you, and earlier this month I did. I attended a Norwegian cosplay convention dressed as Georgia RR Martin, and the pictures from this event can be seen at our webpage. It would make me very happy if you took the time to check them out and tell me what you think.

I'll try to share with you the link, substituting the dots with commas so it won't get marked as spam again... You can find the pictures here: fandomily, wordpress, com

As I wrote in the earlier comment, the responses I received were very positive. Overwhelmingly many people recognized who I was cosplaying and thought it was great. I also wore it briefly at Shamrokon this weekend. I was so bummed that you couldn't make it there since you were the main reason that I went.

I really hope I'll have the chance to meet you another time. I am not able to travel to the states, so it will have to wait until next time you're in Europe.

re: Emmy & a Question
Next year GOT will rock. On a side note I see Buddhist nuances in the House of Black & White. Am I crazy ? On purpose or just happenstance?

I think GoT will be the first
This coming year will put GoT against strong competition, again. The portions of the books to be covered offer good but not great material for cinematic presentation. A win for Best Drama would be much more difficult. This last season was the best yet...and failed to impress the voters. What was not to love when Drogon burned and flew off with the goat? When the series covers the material in The Winds of Winter, I think George will get his well deserved Emmy. From a cinematic prospective, it offers the potential for a dazzling series. The books are exceptional. However, great writing doesn't always translate to great cinema...in the eyes of some narrow minded voters. It would seem better is not good enough. It will require being much better.

Breaking Bad was awesome and intense
But you gotta admit the Weird Al Yancovic bit was excellent.... and when they gave you the typewriter??? I laughed out loud.... We need more scripts!!!

Kill Jessie
As much as I liked Breaking Bad, Jessie made my skin crawl. He'll be moping around and strung out on crack in 4 months.

If you cancel the show after next season, I'll bet you'll win something.

If Game of Thrones had to lose, I am glad it was to Breaking Bad.
