Jets Crash Again

Life is meaningless and full of pain.

Watching the Jets week after week has become an exercise is masochism.

I will grant that Michael Vick looked better today than Geno Smith has all season... but he's still not a long term answer at QB.  Matt Simms did get to play for a couple of series, and showed some real promise, I thought.  His numbers won't look good, but the line gave him no protection and his receivers dropped a number of balls.  At least his passes were on target.

This season is a lost cause.  The worst things the Jets could do now would be to start winning.  They don't have a prayer of making the playoffs, and every win will just push them down on the draft chart.  Rex would do well to start Simms the rest of season.  See if he is the answer at QB.  Geno Smith is a bust, face it, and while Vick might win more games than Simms short term, he doesn't have enough years left.  The Jets need a younger QB to build around.

Anyway, being a fan, I will continue to watch every game I can.  Even if it does feel like being beaten weekly with baseball bats.

Question for George

What are your thoughts on how Percy Harvin has played thus far for the Jets?

Stannis must be a jets fan. That is why he burns people.

A Whole New World.
I only became a football fan this year and I decided to randomly pick which team to follow. I chose the Jets. Oh, the humanity! I can't imagine what it's like for people who've had to put up with this shit for 45 years.

Bring on the #1 draft pick!
Indeed, the worst thing they could do is start winning. Which is of course what they will do now that it would benefit them to keep losing.

Yeah as a Jet fan this is a brutal season with a lot of the blame unfairly falling on Rex when it should be Idzik getting the brunt of it. That man needs to be gone by the time the draft rolls around. Only thing to look forward to is the hope for a top five draft pick this season that is used properly for once though I won't expect much help at QB in the draft this year.

You will be much happier when you redirect your hopes and dreams from the Jets to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

Yeah, not a very good season for you guys. As SportsNation said, this GIF pretty much sums up the Jets whole season: http://cdn3.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/2415982/sitTD.0.gif

Dolphins, OTOH, are shocking the heck out of me this season: we're 5-3 and shut out the Chargers this week 37-0!

Just a bit of sympathy
Somehow, George, I couldn't hope for your team to win today. I hope you understand.

I'm a Bears fan. I feel your pain.

Can basically recycle what you wrote above (sans the stuff about the QB's) for a post about the Giants after tomorrow nights game.

Well, the Charger/Dolphins game was cut away from to go TO the Jets game - at least on my local station. Be glad you can still feel the pain George. I lost my enthusiasm for the Chargers several years ago...

Insult to injury
And I'm sure you noticed how well Sanchez did with the Eagles.

High hopes
I like your idea about keeping Simms in for the remainder of the season to groom him for future seasons. It's easy to be upset now but I have high hopes for the future! You got Decker and Percy Harvin, two amazing weapons for a QB to use and not an awful running game if the O-Line gets their shit together. Once they lock down a decent QB and maybe get some good offensive line studs in the draft you will be set. Also on a side note go Giants!

Why even show up?
Next up, my beloved Steelers and a record setting Big Ben. The jets secondary is awful so I expect a possible 3rd 500 yd game through the air. W no qb or rb as a serious threat, I see a world of pain for the jets offense when the steel curtain drops.

Rex was done when they got a new gm. Most gms don't like hold overs from old regimes and prefer to bring in "their guys."

Only a Jet fan could write this
"The worst things the Jets could do now would be to start winning." I was having the exact same discussion the other day.
