Season 5 Trailer Unveiled

I was at the SuperBowl this past weekend. Great game with a terrible ending. But overall, still an amazing experience.

Others -- millions of others, actually -- were at IMAX theatres across the land, for the special IMAX screenings of episodes 9 and 10 from the fourth season of GAME OF THRONES. I would have loved to have seen that too, but alas, there's no Imax near me.

Those who did make it to an Imax saw the first full-length trailer for season five.

For those who were not, like me, here it is in all its glory. Enjoy.

so much excitement
Hello Mr.Martin

I am most excited to see a new world, culture, and house which is House Martell in Dorne.
What are you most excited for (or for us) to see this season ?

Thank you and Good day

Even though the trailer seems to have some scenes not available yet in the books (looks like there's some off-book Sansa action for example), every fiber of my being is so excited for April 12th.

I searched the web and couldn't find who did that cover (or remix/mash-up) of "Heroes" by Bowie. If anyone knows please comment.

Re: Lovely!!!
Some of that could be 'it's coming in Book Six', the other could be a 'change'.

For me the TV series is fun to watch but it doesn't hold a candle to the novels.

I believe the real problem is with HBO's insistence on shocking viewers - even at the cost of dramatic tension. And for all their shocking additions to the novels, they somehow never capture the barbarity of Westeros culture. Reading about Raff recount The Mountain's rape of that little girl was more shocking that all the naked shots in the HBO series. The REAL red wedding was more dramatic than the SHOCKER OMG HE STABBED THE PREGGERS CHICK in the HBO version.

Shock shots are the crutch of inferior writers. And if they cut a few minutes of boob shots, they might actually be able to fit in vital plot lines - for example Tywin's orchestrated gang bang of Tyrion's first wife. But then, how would the feeble-minded writers at HBO even understand why that plot line was vital to Tyrion's character and motivations? Martin can lead the horse to water, but it sure ain't drinkin'!

Apprehensive to Watch This Year
I'll always love the show because it introduced me to your series. But I would rather wait and read the storylines from TWOW/ADOS as opposed to watching the shows interpretation and budget friendly version. I'll most likely end up watching on Mondays after I find out from fan forums that it doesn't contain unpublished spoilers.

Oh and how about Harper Lee publishing her 2nd novel, a sequel to 'To Kill a Mockingbird' 55 years later? So all of us should shut up and put that in perspective with the next installments to ASOIAF.

Re: Apprehensive to Watch This Year
I think net year is when we will all go in blind, regardless of what we've read.

Unless George surprises us before Season 6 begins.

Judging from my memory of book five, this season looks like it will adapt the rest of what is written.

No new year's gift chapter from TWOW this year, so this trailer will have to do I guess :(

Not millions
I think you misread something, George.

The show made millions, but millions definitely did not go... That would be insane.

Game of Thrones season 5
Really excited to see how unsullied viewers react to that "Edd fetch me a block" scene.

Thank you so much for posting the trailer!

Very excited! Hope they have remained faithful this season and haven't changed much. I've heard they cut Jon Connington out. Which is a huge bummer, but I'm excited overall!

Dear Mr. Martin,

I am so happy to have seen the Season 5 trailer! It looks as good as all of your other seasons on HBO.

I'm a huge fan of your books (though they gave me nightmares, so scary!) but I have to confess, I like your HBO series a little better, because it lifts your words off the pages and creates a magical tapestry of color, characters, and storylines. This is one of my favorite series, ever.

Please know that your fans like me are so grateful to you for creating this world, and we eagerly await new stories from you both on screen and in books.

Matt, a fan of your great work!

"Great game with a terrible ending" - Sounds like a tagline for ASOIAF ;)

p.s. Go Pats! "Deflate Gate" was a sham. I eagerly await the NFL apology to NE.
