Beware... the Dolls Are Coming

Never understood why so many people are scared of clowns.

Clowns aren't creepy.

DOLLS are creepy.

Look at these examples I found on the internet:

Whether you love dolls, or are seriously creeped out by them, you will want to be at the Jean Cocteau Cinema on Sunday, March 15, when award-winning editor and anthologist ELLEN DATLOW comes to visit us, with her new book about... you guessed it.

Watch this space. Tomorrow I will tell you about our CREEPY DOLL CONTEST!

Anyone who's seen Barbarella knows that dolls are creepy.

Lifeless Babies
Couldn't agree more; the more realistic they get the creepier they are! Who wants something that looks like a lifeless baby?

creepy dolls
Wow! You are right, dolls can be pretty creepy. Especially that doll with the 5 o'clock shadow and hairy chest! Jeepers!

Smile Time
The puppet episode Smile Time from the TV show Angel (Joss Whedon) is great and scary, too.

Why dolls George!
They ate creepy. Ever since Child's Play I can not stand dolls. I was 3 at the time and they had just released an eerily similar looking toy for children which coincided with the Child's Play release. Urggg

Asset to New Mexico
Loved "Snow White/Blood Red" and the rest of that series that she co-authored.

You are doing a great service to the high desert community of New Mexico and these great writers with your theater.

I lived in Jemez Springs for years and moved just before you opened. Now all my friends talk about the Cocteau, while I pine away in the Great North.

Your place is becoming as well known as the Paolo Soleri Amphitheater! I look forward to visiting when we go to Abiquiu later this year.

Enjoy some green chili for us in Minnesota!

I've always been creeped out by dolls, and those are damn terrifying!

I miss being creeped out by this sort of thing. When I was a kid, the Stephen King TV miniseries It traumatized me such that I couldn't pass a storm drain for months without being terrified of seeing a child-eating clown smiling at me from it. By the time I became an adult, I was using Pennywise as my desktop background.

Same goes for these dolls. I'm sure as a kid I'd have been thoroughly creeped out and would have had some sleepless nights imagining they were watching me and waiting for me to let down my guard. As it stands nowadays, I'd like to decorate my apartment with them.

For the night is dark, and full of dolls.

Pah. Do you want to know what's really creepy?

Especially after nightfall, when everybody went to bed. You are trying to avoid the mirrors, you are really trying hard not to stare at them.
Fearing that something could stare back.

My mom used to have this life sized "Patty Playpal" doll that scared the hell out of me. I was telling my daughter about it once when we were visiting my dad. I went outside to get something out of the car, and when I came back in, my dad lunges at me with that #@$%^&* doll! Still scares the shit out of me apparently.

I never played with baby dolls as a kid. Barbies yes, baby dolls HELL no. It was stuffed animals for me mostly!

Ahem. Both are creepy. Yes, both dolls AND clowns. :-D

If such is the case, hopefully someone will have the foresight to bring a creepy clown doll to the contest.

From a kid who grew up during Child's Play era..
Cannot agree more. Dolls aren't as scary as before, but still unsettling. Especially when their eyes follow you. Hope to God I have all sons...or a tomboy...to avoid dolls.

That millipede doll....
has destroyed me. Thanks for the nightmares George! ;)

Clowns and dolls
The creeepiest things in this world are the clown's dolls (something similar to the clowns doll in Poltergeist movie).

Valar morghulis!

P.S: Sorry for my English. For me is easier to write/speak Spanish :D
