Peter Beagle Is Coming Back

The unicorns are coming! The unicorns are coming! (Back)

Yes, Peter S. Beagle is returning to the Jean Cocteau Cineman this weekend, and he's bringing THE LAST UNICORN with him once again.

Peter visited us last year, and we had one of our most successful days ever at the Cocteau, with three sold-out screenings and a great signing. So we figured, hell, let's do it again.

direwolf v unicorn

We'll be screening THE LAST UNICORN at 6pm on Friday, March 13, and at 2pm and 7pm on Saturday, March 14. Advance tickets can be purchased through our website at http://www.jeancocteaucinema.com/
And of course Peter will be on hand in person, to answer questions, sign books and posters and videos, and tell his stories. (He tells wonderful stories. In person, and in print).

Come join us!

I said it last time, I'll say it again: people in the area, don't miss this chance to meet Peter S. Beagle. Not just because he's a fantastic storyteller, in writing and in the flesh, who will easily charm entire audiences from the moment he starts talking. But also because he's a wonderful human being, and you'll be richer for the encounter. Trust me. :)

He's one of my very favourite authors of all time (along with you, Mr. Martin), and I'd love to be able to meet him in person. Alas, getting to Arizona next week can't happen (unless we win the lottery!!!!) - perhaps he's thinking of heading to Victoria, British Columbia, the week after next, where we'll be visiting for a week? Yeah, thought not; I can but hope for the future!

Getting to Arizona wouldn't help you. We're in New Mexico.

Good Evening Mr. Martin,

Is it true that at the most recent Game of Thrones Press Event you hinted or directly said that you're putting the finishing touches on Winds and expect for it's release to be sometime in October to coincide with " A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms"?

I ask because aside from being engrossed in your story, a huge fan of 95% of your work(let's be honest your work is the only thing I read)and blah blah, you actually are an awesome dude who hasn't been jaded by your success, you allow for me and people like me to have the possibility TO ask. Not saying you're going to answer or even look on this question favorably, but I must persist because being the huge fan that I am, there's not too much else I think about in my free time. I love the story that much, It gives me such a needed escape. Therefore as you can guess I cannot wait for the awesomeness that awaits in the next volume. From your brain to the paper to fuel my imagination.
It has been reported recently that you hinted at it's October release. I'm thinking maybe they mixed up the names and got confused. Hoping they didn't. ;)
(I apologize if the question ticks you off)

No, there is no truth to that at all.

No publisher in their right mind would release two major books by the same author at the same time.

Thank you!

It's rather crazy, I work in media, ON the news side and it's hard to believe someone intentionally fabricating something like that. But then again look at Brian Williams.

Another thing which grabbed me was comments made by Nikolaj Waldau, the Kingslayer himself saying:

"...I think he's written one of them now. I don't know when it comes out, but I'd assume soon." - (Actually reported by more reputable sources)

So, both stories appearing within a couple days of each other tricked my brain into thinking they may have been connected in some fashion.

Moving on I've always wondered what goes into the process of deciding what the cover of each book is going to be. Is that decision solely yours? Not yours at all? or is it a shared privilege? Further has there been a decision made for the cover of WINDS?

And also I've noticed every character in the "A SONG.." series whose name is Adamm is a badass, dashing warrior type. I appreciate that tremendously!

Aww, I wish I'd known sooner.

Oh man. That's awesome. Amazing book and iconic, imaginative film. "There are no happy endings, because nothing never ends." Wish I could be there!

Alas I'm too far away to go to this showing, but I saw Peter during his Canadian tour with The Last Unicorn (and I bought that delightful picture of King Haggard sitting on the Iron Throne, which he told us the story behind). He stayed probably 5-6 hours to meet everyone in the theater. I'd go again if he ever comes back. Don't miss this if you can go!
