Off to Seattle

Headed for the airport in a couple of hours.   I am off to Norwescon in scenic Seattle, home of the Superbowl champion Seahawks ( in the world where they gave the ball to Beast Mode, anyway).

See you at the con.

Reading from WINDS at Norwescon

Are you planning to do any readings from THE WORLD OF ICE AND FIRE or THE WINDS OF WINTER at the con? Enjoy the trip!

George quick question when you get to Seattle are you going to pass the ball or hand it off?

Enjoy! Hope it's an awesome con.

Will you be getting any Seahawks stuff? That is, unless, you only get Jes & Giants merch...

Safe travels to you Ser and Go Pats!

I delight in your bitterness of the Super Bowl outcome. I think it must be the closest thing to how you feel when you kill off a fan favorite character :)

As a Pats fan
All I can say is that Butler made a great play on the ball and Tom Brady appears to be the GOAT.

Even you, with your obvious distaste of Belichick (I'm lookin' at you Triarch Belicho) and your referring to the Pats as "The Lannisters of the NFL", must admit that Brady/Belichick is a great tandem that has led to many unforgettable moments in the NFL.

Also, this years Pats were a great team that put together a great run. Nothing wrong with that.

Re: As a Pats fan
Tom Brady would be the GOAT... if not for the fact that a little guy named Eli Manning beat him not once but twice.

Re: As a Pats fan
Wow twice? That's amazing!! That's like... half as many super bowl rings as Tom Brady has!

Enjoy your stay here! Should be a great Con. And no, we're not over the Super Bowl yet. Or ever.

The Might Northwest
Do have a booger of a good time with Curtis Armstrong. And may your attendance draw revenue that rivals the stampeding days of the Klondike......well, at least prior to the discovery of gold in Alaska and Canada.

Thank You!!!
This is off subject and you just asked us to not stray off subject. Oh my, at my age I should follow directions better.

Just want to say thank you for the Alayne chapter. It was great prep for WoW. Had a great time visiting Alayne/Sansa again. Almost cried when it ended.

Thanks, for all you do for the fans, you really do go over and above.

Have a fun and safe trip to Seattle!

You'll always have your memories of those giants crushing that famous volantene general to fall back on, George. And 18-1. That must feel still feel good. You should really write Tyree into a book for that. Shadrich must need a lackey or something! Or maybe Wun Wun needs a friend.

as a fan of the champs though, thanks for the belicho drop, I got a big kick out of that.

Go Patriots!
Do tell Russell Wilson that the Patriots send their regards.

For the Seahawks this year's Super Bowl was the equivalent of the red wedding to the Starks. They won every battle but lost the war.

Sorry this is an off topic questions George but I will ask anyway why does bran have the fewest POV chapters out of the stark kids? Is it because he is hard to write or is it because he will have a smaller impact on the story than the other stark kids?

thank you!
Thank you Mr. Martin for coming to Norwescon. I enjoyed your reading and getting to say hi to you in person. With your inclusion of realism and character development in ASOIAF, it helped introduced me to the great world of fantasy. Going to stay away from gaming for now though ;) My first con was truly a memorable one. Safe travels back to NM or wherever you are heading to next!

With all due respect Mr. Martin, I'm in the home of the Superbowl Champions right now here is scenic Massachusetts. I know your not a fan of the Pats and I can respect that but please, be kind to us NE fans that spent years watching our team suck. As a young boy I rooted for my team no mater how futile I knew it may be. I'm not trying to disrespect Steve Grogan or, Drew Bledsoe but, Tom Brady has been a godsend for us Pats fans. Let us enjoy being winners while we can. Let us enjoy our time in the sun. Tom will probably retire in a couple of years and, Bill will probably too. Till then let us enjoy not sucking the way we did in the 80's and 90's. That was one hell of a Superbowl and Seattle brought it to us. I agree that they should have ran the ball on that last play. I still don't understand why they didn't make that call. As a Patriots fan I was expecting that and, expecting another Superbowl loss. Seattle however made the call they made and we have to give credit to Gerard Butler for that fantastic interception. Wow! In my opinion that was one of the greatest Superbowls I have ever witnessed. Both teams played their butts off! Both teams played awesome football that day! Have fun at the Con. Hope you have a good time in Seattle!

All the Wild Cards books under Tor have had absolutely stellar covers. I'd frame them and hang them on my wall if I could.

Are all these examples digital artwork? It doesn't look like traditional oil on canvas. I miss the fantasy/sci-fi covers of the '70s and '80s. Even the paperbacks had amazing covers.

Whatever anyone can get their hands on is, I suspect, the right answer.

At the last party, it was an open bar with pretty much everything you can imagine on offer. There were some special drinks as…

Any chance you could tell us who’s doing the cover art for Fire and Blood? And maybe when we can expect a glimpse of it. Thank you!
