Trompe l'oeil

Any other fans of trompe l'oeil out there?

I love the work of John Pugh, master of the art style called "narrative illusionism."

Take a look:

I have seen the one in Winslow, Arizona in person.

Lots more examples of his work can be found on his website at:

Enjoy.

Amazing artist!
I am glad whenever John Pugh receives some well-deserved international recognition. He has painted some beautiful murals around the area (I live in Palo Alto) and many of his works are "minor" in terms of scale but undeniably meaningful. I am happy that you like his work!

Thanks for publishing this, George!

I see that Pugh does have some work around here, but the charming trompe l'oeil wall paintings on the streets of Palo Alto, though, are the work of Greg Brown. I always enjoy walking by these.

Palo Alto
Yes, Brown's work is nice too. However, I was speaking specifically about the Pugh murals around the Bay Area. There are a few in Palo Alto and in neighboring towns. Our doctors are located at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara (next to the new Apple hq under construction). Any time we go, my wife and I stop by the Pugh mural.

I think that Greg Brown has works along University Ave. and California Ave., right?
