Coming at the Cocteau

We have a cool week coming up at the Jean Cocteau Cinema, for all of you in Santa Fe and Albuquerque and environs, or anyone who just happens to be in the neighborhood.

On Friday and Saturday, we'll be featuring live magic by the amazing JOEL WARD. See the post below by Jenni (who insists that she is an ogre, not a minion).

On Sunday, September 13, we'll have the one-and-only FELICIA DAY, queen of the geek girls, here for an author event, interview, and signing. She's on tour, promoting her new bio YOU'RE NEVER WEIRD ON THE INTERNET (almost), and of course we'll have stacks of copies on hand.

And come Monday and Tuesday, for those two nights only, the Cocteau will be presenting BURLESQUE with a GAME OF THRONES theme.

Advance tix for all of these available at the Cocteau website: http://www.jeancocteaucinema.com/

Do move fast if you want tickets. Especially for Felicia, whose show is almost sold out.

Oh, and we still show movie too.

((More detailed announcements about Felicia's appearance and the GAME OF THRONES burlesque will be appearing here soon, courtesy of Ogre Jenni)).

(((I will leave this open for comments, but please, STAY ON TOPIC. The post about Joel Ward just below drew a bunch of off-topic comments and questions, all of which have been deleted. No questions about my books or the Tv show here, please, and no more Puppy poop.)))

Any chance that you'll get a YouTube account set up with recordings of these talks/events? Would love to see some of the people that have come to the Cocteau in discussion.

Do not get angry George. You must enjoy the NFL tomorrow. Mood and do not despair for the comments out of place.

Oh man. Felicia Day is visiting the Cocteau now too? Dammit. That settles it. I need to move to Santa Fe.

Felicia is a lot of fun and definitely in my list of top 10 favorite geeky people. She's quirky, funny, and basically made of win (ahem, some gaming lingo slipped out). Her book is great, too!

And if anyone reading this has heard of "The Guild" but not actually watched it, do yourself a favor and watch it ASAP. Very funny yet oddly accurate show about online gaming and the kinds of strange situations that can arise (mostly exaggerated for comedic effect although some less so...). Even if you aren't familiar with online gaming and just like geeky stuff, the show should still be a lot of fun. Naturally, it was written by Felicia, starred her as the central character, and had lots of other very funny people in the cast.

Hey George!

Joel Ward is amazing! I was wondering whether you plan on inviting more magicians to Jean Cocteau in the future? As I think this would be an amazing idea!

Minions vs Ogres
Just how many minions do you have at your beck and call ? I think you had mentioned some of them in posts gone by and that you were not looking for any more.

So Far Awar
I was an avid 'The Guild' fan. I sometimes wonder whatever became of Clara I've not yet read her book, but I'd love to see Felicia Day. The GoT Burlesque sounds like a hoot.

You're going to turn Santa Fe NM into the SFF capitol of the US.

Enjoy the shows.

Felicia is always amazing and such a sweetheart. Met her for the third time this past weekend at DragonCon where I got her book signed. Also, met Melinda there too George, she was great in her panels.

Really wish I lived closer to your geographic location, have a feeling I'd be there quite a bit.

Have a great time!

A Game Of Thrones-themed burlesque? How about some one-liners for the show:

What's the difference between a Lannister wife and a Stark wife? A Stark wife has real orgasms and fake jewelry and a Lannister wife has fake orgasms and real jewelry.

This noir, which the Cocteau seems to be showing once a day thru the 17th, is one of my happiest discoveries of the year. Enthusiastically recommended for those who dig their classic film in border climes, leavened with jaw-dropping moments of humanity.

Blacklist Burlesque
Thank you so much for inviting Blacklist Burlesque to SF. My husband and I caught the Tuesday night show and truly enjoyed it. It was our first time visiting the Jean Cocteau but won't be our last.
