Well, Damn

Sometimes I hate Live Journal.

I've been working all day on a new post, a long long long look back on the year that is ending, and all the things that happened in it, the good and the bad.

I know, I know. I should have broken it up. Made it three posts, or four.

But I didn't, and somehow I lost it.

No problem, I figured. LJ has a "restore previous draft" function.

Sadly, however, when I use it, I get a short two paragraph post that I started last night and then abandoned, after deciding I didn't want to post about that after all.

Today's post, the long long long long one (and it wasn't finished), seems to have vanished into the ether, and I can't get it back.

Nor do I have the energy (or time) to recreate it.

Hell of a way to end the year.

Yeah, that's why I try to save what I'm writing directly on the internet in different forms, something like that *always* happens...
Anyway, I hope you won't lose the post for 2017! I hope it will be longer! Happy New Year, sir!

Happy New Year
Sometimes the possibility of a thing makes the reader imagine even more... so, in my mind, it was the greatest end-of-year post ever.

Lost chapters
Have you ever lost any chapter from Winds? Screen it lol

Re: Lost chapters
Never. And you know why? Because I write my fiction with WordStar 4.0 on a DOS machine. Stable as a rock, with none of the glitches of Windows-based systems.

Don't you just love tech? 😱
Hope you have a wonderful new year all the same! =^.^= (and less tech glitches in 2016...)

Jack Williamson
I seem to recall Jack saying something about his transition to writing on a computer.

His wife, Blanche, walked past his desk carrying aluminum Christmas garland and somehow the static buildup and her proximity wiped an entire story he was working on.

You can still give us the "tl;dr" part of it.
Dec. 31st, 2015 11:47 pm (UTC)
If it makes you feel any better, most people on the internet seem to be seeing the funny side of it!

I've gotta say it, this is why people use word processors!
Dec. 31st, 2015 11:50 pm (UTC)
So frustrating. My faith in LJ is low enough that I developed the habit of writing longer posts in a word processing program and copying it over for this very reason.

Happy New Year, may 2016 be glitch-free.

I do the same thing. LJ hates me.

This has to be a joke post right? George you know your fandom was waiting all day for this post, hoping for news on you know what and all you manage is "Sorry". Come on, youd think we would deserve better than that.

Very annoying
As long as nothing like that happens with Winds, we forgive you. ;)

Oh, my goodness, do I feel your pain. I've done that on more than one occasion, usually when trying to explain some complicated rules issue in WSFS. Sympathy.
