This Week at JCC

We opened a cool new time travel movie last night at the Jean Cocteau:

Take a peek.

We're also showing ORION: THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING, about a masked Elvis impersonate, and holding over THE AMAZING NINA SIMONE.

See you at the movies.

Holy crap these seem awesome! It's like a mini-New York city art house movie theater from the 70s-80s up in the JCC!!!

Deadpool and superhero films
Hey George, will you be watching Deadpool? And are you excited for the plethora of superhero movies coming out this year?

Any time travel movie reminds me of "Primer", a movie I would love to own. I am so into time travel, I know I'll watch this movie.

2016 primaries
Are you following the 2016 presidential primaries? Will you endorse a candidate at some point?

Re: 2016 primaries
I am following the campaign, yes. With mounting terror.

Hi George! I came across this and thought I'd share, artwork of Rhaegar Targaryen dying at the trident and the mad king Aerys. I don't claim to make this and I'm not sure of the original source, but either way it's a great piece I think you should see.

What I'd do
I like time travel movies... at least the thought of them. I find myself imaging what I'd do if I were in such a place..... for entertainment purposes. None of the ones I've seen have made any sense at all - about the the choices characters have made.

Me = fan of Quantum Leap.

Re: What I'd do
Have you seen FREQUENCY? That one worked very well, I thought.

The original George Pal TIME MACHINE also has its virtues. (The remake is an abomination).

A confession
Sometimes I use Google Earth to wander outside the Jean Cocteau Cinema. I want to visit that place so bad. Too bad I live in Sweden.

Have you had a chance to see Star Wars yet? Curious what you think of it, as I know your opinions on the previous films.

Is there ever any chance that all of the authors involved in the Sad Puppies debate last year (on both sides) could collaborate on a Wildcards anthology? Wow what a book that would be!!!

Re: Wildcards
No, there is no chance of that. Are you trying to send me to an early grave? WILD CARDS is a collaborative effort requiring a lot of teamwork; we have a fairly diverse group of writers, politically, but we do need people who work well with others. Bringing in people who are so bitterly opposed to one another would be a recipe for disaster.

Or the perfect inspiration for a new book ?!

Sound system in your theatre...
Hey there Mr. Martin! My husband is a bit of an audiophile and he really wants to know: What kind of sound system do you have in your theatre? Specifically, he is curious about what brand of speaker/subwoofer, how shiny your flux capacitor is, etc. :) No detail is too minor if you happen to know offhand. He's enthusiastic about all things audio and he often wonders aloud what kind of sound system your theatre is sporting.

He told me not to bother you with such an inane question, but I want to look wise and have an answer ready for him the next time he muses out loud about it. "He has a full complement of Klipsch subwoofers, twelve Tannoy towers and a JBL flux capacitor that will send you back to 1955 using sound waves alone!!" Lol!

Re: Sound system in your theatre...
Not being an audiophile myself, I don't pay much attention to that stuff. My wife does. She'd know, I don't.
