What's Up, Doc?

"Never play poker with a man called Doc," Nelson Ahlgren once warned.

Guess my poker-playing days are over.

I am very pleased. Thanks to all my friends at A&M.

(When will I be returning to College Station to get the degree? Not till WINDS is done).

most important question: will you add the doctor titel to your name on the book cover or are the two "R"s enough? ;)

'Bout time, cause lord knows that journalism degree hasn't gotten you anywhere...

I can go pick it up for you and drop it off at the Cocteau if you're busy.

That's awesome! But as for that deadline...
George, you so deserve it! Congratulations, sir. You're turning into Littlefinger, collecting new titles left and right :)

As for waiting for WINDS, that line made me laugh and made me think two things... first, while I'm sure many fans appreciate the self-imposed deadline, you shouldn't sweat it! Go collect your degree, insist everyone refer to you as Dr. Martin, and write your book on your own pace. That's the only way it's going to get done, anyway--you don't need any more pressure on yourself and we love you anyway. (Plus then you can put "Dr. George R.R. Martin, Ph.D" on the cover.)

And second...well, it made me have a little flashback to college--and I remembered that I never hit a single deadline that a professor gave me or that I gave myself. Made it through--and near the top of my class... so just goes to show that it's never how fast you write something that matters. It's how well the final process comes out.

Congratulations! We can now call you Doc Martin! Sorry, you might be weary to the soul with these jokes

I attended AggieCon 2004. I had a great time, but the highlight was the Miss AggieCon Pageant. I went with a group of friends and my awesome friend made a giant Jabba the Hutt that fit 2 people in it and was crowned Miss AggieCon 2004.
