Nebula Nominees

SFWA has announced the finalists for this year's Nebula Awards.

You can find the full list on the SFWA website, here: https://www.sfwa.org/2016/02/2015-nebula-awards-nominees-announced/

Congratulations to all the nominees... and to our new Grand Master, C.J. Cherryh.

And a special shout-out to David D. Levine, who is one of my Wild Cards writers. David is a finalist in Short Story for "Damage," from Tor.com.

But speaking of David... do watch Tor.com for his next story, a Wild Cards original entitled "Discards." It will be up on Tor.com in March, with an amazing John Picacio "cover."

"Discards" is set in Rio, and introduces David's new Brazilian ace, The Recycler. I think you'll like it.

Thank you
Lurker here, I made this account to say Thank you.

As a young person living in a very PC world, the slightest mistake follows you around forever. If you post something on social media, it has a significant affect on your world. If you want to be a teacher, don't post photos of you holding beer on facebook. If you want to be an elected official, in Administration, or in entry level business, don't post anything that may be controversial. Stay quiet, get in line, and don't draw attention to yourself.

This cultural suppression has spilled into my writing. I'm afraid to write scenes depicting sex, rape, death-etc. I'm afraid of being attacked, silenced, or judged because I am creating a real-world situation that happens daily. I was deeply disturbed that Sansa was raped, deeply, but I know that is what you meant me to feel when you wrote it. You wanted me to understand the complexities of humanity, and our deep secrets we shove aside in favor of only remembering the triumphs. The world is not always well-meaning, it's not always sterilized, it's not always kind. I feel like that has been forgotten by so many authors, and they write it in as something to overcome.

Thank you. Thank you for pushing boundaries, thank you for depicting the world as it can be, thank you for standing by your guns.

Just..thank you.

Re: Thank you
I understand the problem.

But you need to write fearlessly. Tell your stories as you want to tell them. Never worry about the audience. The readers will like it or they won't... in most cases, some of both... but that's beyond the control of writer. Tell the truth. Your truth.

Thank you!
Hello George RR Martin! Hey I'm from Brazil and I do not know if you read this message, but I just wanted to thank you! A few years ago, I did not see any sense in my life, nothing encouraged me, everything to me was anguish and suffering. Hanging out with my friends, I consulted me with a psychologist, but I still felt an emptiness from me ... Until one day, a friend of mine named Matheus, presented me a book "A Guerra dos Tronos" (A Game of Thrones in Brazil) and some days I have found myself really in Westeros, Essos and the whole plot of the story and it was a matter of little time for me to read the book 2, 3, 4, 5 .... nowadays, nothing gives me more pleasure than to talk to a friend of mine on "As Cronicas de Gelo e Fogo" (a Song of Ice and Fire)! Often debate theories with friends and other groups and it really gave me a great courage to face my problems and make my life! I sincerely and wholeheartedly, am eternally grateful to you, George RR Martin! You made me go on living! Thank you! I love you! P.S .: I'm sorry if I made any English mistake, I'm not fluent haha
