Behold, The Mighty Editor

I have my editor's hat on today. (It looks just like my writer's hat, only in a different color). ((No, not really, I am being facetitious. Damn, you guys, don't take everything I say so literally)).

For the past three weeks, the forty-odd (some very odd) members of the Wild Cards consortium have been submitting story proposals and pitches for the three new WC books from Tor, LOW CHICAGO and MISSISSIPPI ROLL and TEXAS HOLD 'EM. Last night at midnight was the deadline for pitches.

As usual, we have more proposals than we need. Only eight writers per book. So today is Decision Day, wherein I decide who gets to be in which book, who is out, who gets to double-dip. It is never easy. So many talented writers, so many great characters, so many fun ideas.

But that's why I get the Big Bucks as editor (that was another joke, yessir, for sure, this is a labor of looooooove).

Open Letter?
Hi George, hope you are well. I just wanted to ask, did you write an open letter on dorkly . com?

It purports to be a letter, by you, in defense of the frequent deaths in your work and how Shakespeare kills more of his characters and then how the Bible also features even more deaths.. I just wondered if it was genuine; and if it's not maybe you'd want to know cos it's not a small website. I don't like to be a tattle tail, but our name is all we really have, when it comes down to it and I know I wouldn't want somebody using mine erroneously. Hope you don't mind my asking, this is the only way I know of to contact you. As you may or may not have noticed, this is the second time I posted this question, cos the first was marked as spam, so I've removed the link I'd included.

RE: Open Letter?
No, not me. Total fraud.

I had never heard of Dorkly.com till I read your comment. And while I might indeed cite Shakespeare, the style of the "open letter" is all wrong.

Also, when I have something to say, I say it here.

Re: Open Letter?
Right; thought so. I take your point about posting stuff here, nonetheless I thought it best to check. The piece does make some salient points, and it seems to come from a place of support, if not respect, since pretending to be you actually diminishes it.
Thanks for your response anyway. Jaemi x
