Home Again... with Ick

I am back home again in Santa Fe, after two weeks on the road in Baltimore and New York City.

Great trip... but I seem to have brought the plague home with me.

Some kind of con crud was going around at Balticon. My assistant Jo was stricken with it, as was my friend Lezli Robyn, though in both cases it did not manifest until after the con. Coughing, fever, headache, congestion, more coughing.

I got it too, albeit a milder case. And then my assistant Lenore was stricken. (So far Parris has been spared, knock wood).

We're all still under the weather, though recovering.

So I will keep this short. Lots to report on, lots to catch up on, but just now I don't have the energy. More sleep and more fluids... I should be my old self shortly....

Feel better!
Take some 1000 mg Vitamin C around the clock, elderberry (the syrup kind is fine I use Gaia), and also echinacea, and zinc!
Oh and have someone make you a chicken soup infused with shallots, garlic, ginger, and a bit of turmeric. Works for us every time. We never get sick and if we do doing this regime keeps us sick for one day max.
Stay healthy George! 💚

RE: Feel better!
You probably won't answer this, but I figured I'd try my luck. I can't remember how big the Vale army is, last time I checked someone said it was anywhere from 20k-40k. The Internet has all sorts of numbers so I wasn't sure.
Take care, and again feel better. 💚

Feel better!
I always call it the "nerd flu," when I get sick at a conference. Rest well, and I hope you feel better in a jiffy.

Stay hydrated via sweet thick pumpkin soup, iced milk with honey, and mint tea.

Feel Better!
Feel better soon! Balticon was wonderful! Fortunately our group escaped the plague and had a wonderful time all around. Really enjoyed the Damphair chapter. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like there might have been a whole lot of imbedded little clues within the big picture of that chapter.

Wishing both you and your assistants a speedy recovery.

Lots of chicken soup from scratch should do the trick. (add some ginger, turmeric and garlic to the broth - they have anti-inflammatory properties and a natural remedy really) And a lot of tea with honey and lemon. And of course vitamin C is essential, so orange juice.
Most importantly stay away from dairy.

Feel better George!

Case of Baltimore Crabs?
Lets hope it wasn't a case of bad crab cakes. Or worse PUBIC LICE!
See what I did there?

Ok in all seriousness get better George, and my God that Damphair chapter was AMAZING. I realize that chapter was likely written over 5 years ago, but man you are still in your prime.

Ugh those are the worst!

So sorry to hear that and I hope you get better soon.

Researchers have found that chicken soup, aka "Jewish Penicillin" (their words!) really can help you get over the common crud.

The authors found that chicken soup lowered inflammation and boosted a process called chemotaxis which is how fast your immune cells can move to chase infected cells.

It's the only clinical study I've ever read that included a recipe:

• 1 5- to 6-lb stewing hen or baking chicken;
• 1 package of chicken wings;
• 3 large onions;
• 1 large sweet potato;
• 3 parsnips;
• 2 turnips;
• 11 to 12 large carrots;
• 5 to 6 celery stems;
• 1 bunch of parsley; and
• salt and pepper to taste

If necessary, capon wings may be used as a substitution.
