Home Again... with Ick

I am back home again in Santa Fe, after two weeks on the road in Baltimore and New York City.

Great trip... but I seem to have brought the plague home with me.

Some kind of con crud was going around at Balticon. My assistant Jo was stricken with it, as was my friend Lezli Robyn, though in both cases it did not manifest until after the con. Coughing, fever, headache, congestion, more coughing.

I got it too, albeit a milder case. And then my assistant Lenore was stricken. (So far Parris has been spared, knock wood).

We're all still under the weather, though recovering.

So I will keep this short. Lots to report on, lots to catch up on, but just now I don't have the energy. More sleep and more fluids... I should be my old self shortly....

Does this mean a game of thrones character will get sick? The white walkers could use some chicken noodle soup. 🙃 Take their soup away from them George and feel better.

Hello revered George! I long looked for contacts, different responsible people., I did not find. I from Russia. I watch "Game of Thrones". I had a magnificent idea. This idea will lift popularity of series and your book also with a new force. This idea Will warm the old audience of series and there will arrive new. Finance costs are absent. the General idea is that competition among viewers. This idea needs to be tried as soon as possible, it is obligatory in each series. I want to tell you the idea, on your e-mail. It to be pleasant to you.

Thanks, but I don't solicit, read, or consider ideas from others, and neither does HBO.

I have plenty of ideas of my own. More than I can ever possibly turn into books, even if I live to be a hundred.

hand or Hand?
Need some clarity on a line from The Forsaken. Is it "it was my hand that pushed him off the bridge" or "it was my Hand that pushed him off the bridge"?

Would be very kind of you if you can clarify that.

Get well!
It's good to hear from you, ser! I hope the pesky bacteria or whatever they are leave you and your loved ones alone. All the best wishes form your faithful Polish fan. :)

PS: as someone here already stated, re-reading the "Song of Ice and Fire" is extremely rewarding. I'm halfway through "Dance" and I think I might be up for yet another re-read of all five after I'm done. Thank you and kudos for creating this entrancing world.

Welcome back
My fiancee and I were both at the con (my first one, totally loved it) and had a bit of the itchy-scratchy throat trying to happen too. Fortunately we had the presence of mind to bring along some vitamin C and escaped without getting actually sick with whatever that bug was. (Go, Immune-system, go!)

Also I realize we're a bunch of sick you-know-what's for wanting to hear the Greyjoy chapter (wickedly sick and totally new material) over the Arya chapter (which we've already seen)...but what can you expect! The "fake history" does sound intriguing. Looking forward to seeing more of that. Also hearing some of your real-life stories was pretty great too. (And my poor wallet was much thinner as I discovered some new authors of varying quality and, naturally, had to get some new books to try...)

How many assistants do you have? Do they handle different roles?
Jun. 9th, 2016 06:37 pm (UTC)
Five. Yes, different jobs, though there is some overlap.

You're the man George! My favorite author, no contest. I won't pretend that I know what you should be taking for your ailments, I'm sure you have someone more qualified to help you with that... I hope you feel better soon though. I look forward to reading these reports, as soon as you are feeling well enough to report on them, that is... Take care buddy!!

Being sick after traveling is the worst. Hopefully you and your team get better soon! Can't wait to hear whatever news you have - deep down, the ever hopefull fan in me wants to believe that you submitted both The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring to your editor, and that we will be recieiving The Winds of Winter sometime after this season of Game of Thrones, and A Dream of Spring before next year's season. But any news is good news, regardless of the context!

Get well soon! :D 🗡🏹🛡👑🏰
