Home Again... with Ick

I am back home again in Santa Fe, after two weeks on the road in Baltimore and New York City.

Great trip... but I seem to have brought the plague home with me.

Some kind of con crud was going around at Balticon. My assistant Jo was stricken with it, as was my friend Lezli Robyn, though in both cases it did not manifest until after the con. Coughing, fever, headache, congestion, more coughing.

I got it too, albeit a milder case. And then my assistant Lenore was stricken. (So far Parris has been spared, knock wood).

We're all still under the weather, though recovering.

So I will keep this short. Lots to report on, lots to catch up on, but just now I don't have the energy. More sleep and more fluids... I should be my old self shortly....

re: get better
Want to really get better? Go to YouTube and watch Chuck Tingle's animated re-creation of how he found out the truth about his Hugo nomination. It is called " Special Report Billings #3 : Voxman & the Bad Dogs Blues" It deserves an Alfie. 7 minutes of brilliance!

The Baltimore Plague
OH man, that exact pestilence has been burning through our labs and took me out the weekend of the Con, so I didn't get to go. It was a few days of fever sweats and coughing misery. Liquids, rest, and hearty meals should help you recover. Feel better soon!

Something in the water
Interesting...my wife and I just returned from the Baltimore area (though not at the con), and were sick as well.

Hopefully, and likely, just a coincidence.

I hope you get well soon. Although with the right kind of empathetic bedside manner, being ill can render fond memories. Enough to make anyone consider becoming a hypochondriac. Life is about those moments in time shared with other human beings after all. This is my first posting ever i feel like a fanboy but only because your work is so inspirational and I hold that quality paramount to all others. This blurb even inspired my livejournal username. "Voltare was quoted as saying plagurism is the highest form of flattery. It is when we take what is excellent and make it our own." I might be paraphrasing my memory has always been somewhat ambiguous. I was considering writing a fanfic peice on the origins of hardhome but after reading your thoughts on the topic decided instead to devolope my own ideas and inspirations into something unique. I read through some posts from 6 years ago and i have some advise for folks who have made note of the fact that writing in your sandbox helps them develope as writers. Instead of directly referring to Mr. Martin's creations take time to study the nuances of what each one represents and make it your own. There are solid, sound, expertly crafted foundations there that would lend themselves to any story. I appologize greatly if im doing this wrong I am a neophyte in this interweb realm. I have a great appreciation for the ideas and creations you've brought to this world, their sapidity is euphoric.

someone who titters on.
