Another Great Thing About Barack Obama

He collects Spider-Man and Conan the Barbarian comics.

That's so cool that I'm willing to forgive him for being a Harry Potter fan.

I bet I have a better Spidey collection than he does, though.

Let's just hope his spider-sense starts to tingle whenever the country is in danger.

Re: reading recommendations
And don't forget Dreamsongs, his two-volume collection of stories.

Two other books that I'd fully recommend to both GRRM and his readers are Brian Daley’s excellent Doomfarers of Coramonde / Starfollowers of Coramonde. Great action and magic in the spirit of "Jason and the Argonauts" meets "Lord of the Rings," written by a Vietnam veteran and scriptwriter for the NPR Star Wars series.

And for a more serious, historical epic, there's James Clavell’s Shogun, which actually reads much like a fantasy – you have the Dutch pilot entering a magical new realm and having to deal with power struggles for the throne, legendary swords, a corrupt Church, assassins, prisons, and subterfuge. Fascinating history (much of it based on actual people and events), with plenty of action and swordplay and sex, all written with complete control of the language.
