Words Fail Me

From Jim Ludwig:

"Lillian left this world holding the hand of God at 8:41 pm CST tonight. She peacefully died in our arms as we talked to her telling her how much we love her and how amazing our exactly 100 days to almost the minute were before she had her incident at Daycare.

She then held on for 3 long days as a last gift to us so we could say our goodbyes and let our friends/family say their goodbyes. She was such a little trooper trying to breathe on her own and fight through this. She just could not breath enough to sustain herself on her own after the brain damage. There were glimmers of hope here and there, but the damage to her brain was so devastating from the initial daycare incident, all of her upper brain functions were gone.

Melissa and I will never be the same as sharing our brief time with Lillian has changed us forever. They were the most amazing days of our lives and also the most devastating at the end. Please see the attached pics we took the night before the incident (some are a tad older). She was so happy and so talkative. She was the same the morning we took her to daycare. We have no answers yet except some sort of SIDS-type attack that happened at Daycare.

Please pray for Lillian."

What DID happen? Happy, normal infant goes to daycare, and then stops breathing??? I'm very suspicious, too many videos out there of daycare givers neglecting small kids, saw one just the other day on dateline or 20/20, where a caregiver was neglecting a woman's infant, but luckily she had her webcam linked remotely to her work so she saw it as it happened.

I'm not a big believer in "SIDS" per se, I think it's more about how a child sleeps restricting their airway... and in daycare, there should be someone watching to make sure they don't sleep or are in a position where they can't breathe. Poor kids aren't strong enough to correct it themselves and if you can't breathe, you can't cry and let the grown-ups know.

My heart goes out to them. I hope there is an investigation though, SIDS while at daycare makes no sense to me... but I don't know everything so I guess it could be possible.

This is so sad and so terrible,I cannot find words-because that's all they'll be, words!:(May she be well where she has gone and may her parents and all loved ones find comfort in one another in this time of utter sorrow!:(

I am Russian and I am Orthodox. I do not know how that words are written in English, so I write in Russian.

Упокой, Господи, душу младенца Лиллиан, даруй Царствие Небесное и вечный покой.

I will light a candle and pray for that little angel.

I've lost a six years old daughter last november - car accident. She was a kind of Arya, self-sufficient, impulsive and witty. Ok, Arya is not witty, strictly speaking, but my daughter was. Once my son (a bit older) fell from his chair at the lunch table and my daughter laughed out loud. And when he said "it is not funny", she answered: "from your point of view". She was five then.

Well, Jim, know that here, in Brazil, somebody shares your pain. And I will include your daughter in my prayers.

So sorry. Such a beautiful daughter.

from Whitman:

Young and strong I pass knowing well I am destin’d to an early death;
But my charity has no death – my wisdom dies not, neither early nor late,
And my sweet love bequeath’d here and elsewhere never dies.
