I regret to announce that Michael Kaluta will not be illustrating the 2010 Ice & Fire calendar for DB Productions. I've seen some of the work Mike had done on the calendar to date, and it was gorgeous... but he's pulled out, and his reasons for doing so are good and sufficient. I am in complete support of his decision to wash his hands of this, and regret all the problems that his involvement in this project has caused him.
I have reached the end of my patience as well. I have instructed my agent to ask the Dabel Brothers for an immediate termination of our contract.
Unless another publisher suddenly hoves into sight, the problem-plagued 2009 Ice & Fire calendar may be the only one there ever is.

But ,in the end, it may be for the best. We still don't know what may happen in the future ^^
They need someone to print/distribute/etc.
Again, thank you for all your involvement in trying to sort out the calendar mess for us costumers, you didn't have to, and it is really much appreciated.
There is a company called Amber Lotus - they do lots of beautiful calendars... more along the woo-woo sort of thing. Think zen, fractals, etc. But they might be a good source for a new publisher! I regret I didn't get a 2009 and was all prepared for the 2010 edition.
Good luck!
Any chance of us seeing Michael Kaluta working on another SoI&F project in the future, perhaps the world book?
Feh.
I'm glad you are no longer working with the Dabel Brothers. I finally received the 2009 Ice & Fire calendar I ordered from them. I only had to dispute my payment with PayPal in order to get them to send it. They also never answered any of my emails.
I think anyone who tried to buy anything from them recently can understand your decision. And we don't even need to know the details with Michael Kaluta to know his pulling out was probably warranted.
I have a question, i not understand this part of your message:
I have reached the end of my patience as well. I have instructed my agent to ask the Dabel Brothers for an immediate termination of our contract.
This is valid only for calendar i hope, not for comics etc...really?
