The Beans Are Spilled

Well, the first two beans, anyway. There will be many more beans to come.

But HBO has signed a director for the GAME OF THRONES pilot, and the first cast member has come aboard as well.

The pilot will be helmed by Tom McCarthy, director of THE VISITOR and THE STATION AGENT.

And playing Tyrion Lannister will be Peter Dinklage, who was almost everyone's "dream casting" for the role (he certainly was mine):

I'm thrilled.

Things are starting to move a lot faster now. The rest of the year is going to be exciting!

Re: An Honorable Thought
I would love to have Roy Dotrice be a part of A GAME OF THRONES. Believe me, I know just how talented he is. That was why he was my choice to read the audio books, and he has done a sensational job at that. He would make a great Maester Aemon, certainly. He would also be very good as Ser Rodrik Cassell, and superb as Grand Maester Pycelle.

Of course, only Ser Rodrik actually appears in the pilot.

And in any case, this is not my call to make, though I have not been shy with my suggestions.
