SUICIDE KINGS Sample

For all you Wild Cards fans out there, I've changed the WC sample on my website, replacing the BUSTED FLUSH scene with a cool one from SUICIDE KINGS, written by Ian Tregillis (look for his his novel next year from Tor!) and featuring Rustbelt.

You can check it out at http://www.georgerrmartin.com/wc-s.html

SUICIDE KINGS will be published at the end of the year. This is the concluding volume of the Committee triad. Besides Ian T, the writers are Caroline Spector, Melinda M. Snodgrass, S.L. Farrell, Daniel Abraham, and Victor W. Milan. Featured viewpoint characters will be Rustbelt, the Amazing Bubbles, Double Helix, Gardener, Bugsy, and the Radical, but the rest of the gang will be on hand as well.

I know you hate being pestered, but I feel like I am waiting for you to complete the Mona Lisa and you keep trying to show me how cool your flying machines are.(which yes, wild cards seems cool and I will check it out eventually) I am not demanding that you work on only one project nor am I under the impression that you owe me anything as I keep reading in the forums. I am simply the first wolf of the June pack to come howling outside your door looking for scraps. Showing me progress on other projects makes me hungrier for knowledge on how ADWD is progressing and you had said June to keep us at bay last time. As obnoxious as it can be to be bothered like this, consider how long it has been and how anxious your fans are to get tidbits of information about it. What sort of evil person would write such a capturing story as to provoke fans like this... lol, it IS a masterpiece.

So to my point, how is ADWD progressing? In pages, dates, estimations, chapters left, editing, however you want to put. (please let us know! of course after cursing me and my kind out for being so damn persistent. And why do I go without cursing you out and demanding things from you, I'm a Red Sox fan so I am nothing if not patient)

if you mean this one here:http://www.amazon.com/Dance-Dragons-Rhys-Parry/dp/0722335903/ref=sr_1_35?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1244756601&sr=1-35
it is already released.but it seems books with that name are very difficult to get.

Re: davinci
What a stupid joke, sweetmartin, really, I dislike sarcasm in the internet :(

No, really, Wild Cards is really cool, but still, as i mentioned before, Mr. Martin knows what is most anticipated. And somehow I guess he tries to do that at the very best.

But please, Ty or whoever is choosing which posts should survive, please don't delete those which are just suggestions for a better homepage ... as I did last time.
That's really not cool. It is never cool to treat a reader like this. I've never been unfriendly, ok?

So keep on the work, maybe the many works you have to do, Mr. Martin. And keep your life, as we all try to have ours until there is another great release written by yourself, not edited, not advertised for, just what you want to give us. And I am sure, it will be good. Even if I almost fall apart because I'm really eager to know how it continues ...
Don't be fooled. There is always this feeling in some fans who have to wait very long for a very desired piece of art that they become impatient. Some do not. That's cool.

I try to be kind and that's all, but when a good suggestion is deleted then I really doubt that this is a good way of handling a blog. It is yours. We all know. But yours are also your fans.
And some of your fans are just interested in your works, and some just in your one series.

Is that ok with you?

Re: davinci
Read the Wild Cards series and quit whining. After reading the latest ones, I got hooked and bought copies of all the originals (I'm half-way through Jokertown Shuffle now.) They're great reads.

And when you get through with those, try Hunters Run. It kicked ass, too. (BTW: I'm a Cubs fan. My patience trumps yours.)

Re: davinci
I am not whining I am just requesting info to prove wrong one of my friends who believes Martin has written himself into a corner as Stephen King once did and then took 20 years to finish the series. I have far more faith in Martin. All authors need breaks from their main series, but that doesn't mean that their fans will fall in love with every other series that comes out by them. Right now I am having a case of the epics. If the storyline isn't as jaw-dropping, book-throwing, 'awkward gasping in a quiet room', 'drop the book in a garbage can then go for a 2 hour jog before coming back to fish it out' good, then I have trouble picking it up.

I will borrow Wild Cards from the library next week but I feel that my expectations are unrealistic which is why I think the dark towers series is the better option for the time being. I was just hoping for an update or even a thumbs up.

Marsh, the next time the cubs face the yankees, u know I'll be rooting with you.

I want Mark Meadows back. Really truly. I never liked the Radical, from the very beginning when he beat up the poor confused ace at the concert.
I know, I shouldn't whine, it felt like I waited forever for new Wild Cards books, and have you SEEN some of the prices on Death Draws Five? I feel like I should lock my copy up and never let anyone read it.

But I still miss Mark.

I am new to the not a blog and the song of ice and fire books for that matter (I started AGOT about a year ago but I finished AFFC last night) and I can't stop thinking about ADWD and I just wanted to ask just what davinci is asking basically but I also wanted to let you know that you are doing a fantastic job. I don't think that you can do any less then perfection on ADWD and that is why it is taking you so much time to finish (not complaining just saying). I have never been so drawn in by a single book let alone four books, that i could read all of them in the span of a year.

Keep up the fantastic work and just wondering if we could get a little update if at all possible.

Thanks much, and remember to keep these books growing strong;)

I guess these kind of expectations could be very frustrating to some writers. :) I hope George is not one of them.

Rustbelt! Right on! Suicide Kings is definitely on my list.

As far as this other ... well ... I like to singa, about the moona and the june-a and the springa. I like to singa, about the skies of blue-a and tea for two-a ... (shuffle shuffle)

Can't Wait
I've really been looking forward to this book. Inside Straight got me reading Wild Cards and I've been devouring the early books ever since.

That cover's so dynamic. Kind of hope someone over at Marvel or DC sees it and gets Komarck in to do some of comic covers. Would love to see his take on Superman, Spider-Man, and so on.

The excerpt's fun, and rather curious to see what the overarching story is going to be like.

Where to find?
I would love to start this series from the beginning, but cannot find the first 6 or so anywhere. Anyone able to help me out here? My interest has been piqued by the updates and information on volumes coming out, but I'm picky about starting with the first. ;)

Thanks bunches!

Re: Where to find?
You can find the old books on ebay and ABE fairly easily, though a few of them -- the Baen triad and the two ibooks hardcovers, especially -- can be expensive.

However, it's not necessary to have read the original series to enjoy these new books. Start with INSIDE STRAIGHT, and you'll be fine.

Hi George, This might be off topic.. sorry about that. I was just wondering if you have read anything about the Dragon Age video game and the influence that you have had on the game? It looks like its going to be a great little RPG! Take a look at it if you have a moment.
